Product Description
Upgrade your Nighthawk’s intake system with a purpose built set of 2 to 1 ducts designed to replace the factory airbox and allow the use of pod filters without sacrificing drivability. These ducts were engineered specifically for the 1983 to 1985 Honda CB650SC Nighthawk and may fit other Honda models that share similar carb spacing and geometry. Critical dimensions are provided in the product photos so you can verify compatibility on your own bike if needed.
Each duct merges two carburetors into a shared air source, similar to the stock plenum, which helps maintain the vacuum stability that pod filters alone usually compromise. This design supports smoother tuning, easier re-jetting, and more consistent performance on stock or lightly modified carburetors. TUNING IS REQUIRED.
This intake duct was modeled in SolidWorks and tested for strength and flow efficiency. The parts are 3D printed in a Nylon and Carbon Fiber composite filament that offers excellent heat resistance, fuel resistance, and long term dimensional stability. The carbon fiber reinforcement minimizes warping during heat cycles and provides additional rigidity in high stress areas.
A Buna-N o-ring is included for each duct to ensure a secure and leak free seal on the carb side. The o-rings are resistant to gasoline and oil, and the design includes a recessed seat that limits wear during installation and removal. Mounting is handled by flanged brass press fit inserts paired with stainless steel set screws. The screws lightly lock the duct behind the carb lip for secure positioning, but the ducts fit snugly even without fasteners.
These ducts are designed around the K&N RC-0981 pod filter but will accept any 54 mm inside diameter filter. Using a larger filter provides extra surface area and reduces cleaning frequency while keeping airflow well within the needs of the engine.
This kit includes everything needed for installation. Filters are not included by default so you can choose your preferred brand or style.
